About Taiga Takahashi / T.T
T.T, the unisex fashion brand founded by Taiga Takahashi in 2017, is based in New York and Kyoto. Taiga, educated in Japanese culture and Western thought, graduated from Central Saint Martins (UAL) in 2017. He then established his brand with the concept of "resurrecting relics of the past to unearth artifacts of the future." Tragically, he passed away in April 2022 at just 27, but his vision continues to guide the brand.
Taiga was a passionate collector of vintage American garments, particularly from the 1920s–1950s, focusing on the pre-mass production era. He studied these historical pieces in detail, using an archaeological approach to analyze their fabrics, sewing techniques, and details. These elements were reinterpreted through traditional Japanese craftsmanship, such as natural dyeing and weaving with antique looms, to create garments designed to last for 100 years or more.
The brand embraces the expertise of Japanese artisans, merging ancient techniques with modern aesthetics to craft timeless pieces. Its Kyoto base, located in the Gion district, serves as an artistic hub featuring clothing, architecture, tea rooms, and sculptures that reflect Taiga's philosophy and celebrate Japanese beauty and craftsmanship.
Even after Taiga's untimely passing, his team continues his legacy with unwavering dedication, carrying forward his mission of blending historical authenticity with timeless design.
