VISVIM - KOBE Flagship Store

The WMV VISVIM KOBE store is housed in the former Kobe branch of Chartered Bank, located inside the historic 1938 Chartered Building. Its original rotating wooden door and stately façade preserve the character of the old foreign-settlement district. Inside, the soaring two-story atrium, vertical windows, and untouched stone and concrete surfaces reveal the building’s past with an honest, architectural gravity. visvim’s interventions — from hand-crafted wooden fixtures to 1930s-inspired lighting and traditional “naguri” timber details — are added with precision and restraint. The result is a space where heritage and contemporary craftsmanship coexist in quiet harmony.

SETO

SETO, located in Kudanshita, opened on November 10, 2025, as the debut restaurant of chef Seto Sosuke, who was born in 1996 and began his culinary journey in Italy after high school. His background spans influential kitchens, including serving as sous chef during the opening of Maz in Kioi-cho and later refining his craft as head chef at Kadeau in Denmark. The restaurant presents a 12-course menu that reflects his international training and restrained, ingredient-focused sensibility. The space, designed by Atsushi Osada of MILESTONE, features KITAWORKS chairs and sculptural works by Shiraishi Yoichi, creating a serene, contemporary atmosphere. Together, the cuisine and interior form a cohesive expression of craft, balance, and thoughtful composition.

KOFFEE MAMEYA - Bean Shop

KOFFEE MAMEYA in Shibuya operates like a hybrid between a bean shop and a gallery, where the “exhibits” are meticulously sourced coffees from around the world. The minimalist space keeps the focus entirely on the beans themselves, each carrying its own story and character. Baristas act as curators, engaging deeply with visitors to understand their tastes, brewing methods and equipment before guiding them toward the right selection. During my visit, I was matched with exceptional beans from LEAVES and given a hand-written brewing recipe tailored specifically to my setup. The result is a space that elevates specialty coffee into an art form, embodying Japan’s commitment to precision, craftsmanship and thoughtful hospitality.

A.PRESSE - Flagship Store

The A.PRESSE Tokyo store is tucked into a quiet building in Jingūmae, shaped with the same restraint and deliberation found in the brand’s clothing. Inside, sand-and-straw concrete walls pair with Danish and Brazilian mid-century furniture, vintage audio equipment, and bespoke brass fixtures to create a warm, tactile minimalism. Heavy oak hangers and carefully sourced materials underscore the label’s obsession with craftsmanship and timelessness. The space feels more like a curated archive than a traditional retail shop. Altogether, it reflects A.PRESSE’s philosophy of elevating familiar garments into something quietly luxurious.
