About vetra

Vetra was founded in 1927 in Paris by Édouard Beerens, who turned a small workshop producing aprons and overalls into a dedicated workwear manufacturer focused on durable, high-quality garments for laborers. The name Vetra comes from Vêtements de Travail (French for “work clothes”), reflecting its mission to create functional and resilient clothing that stands up to demanding professional use.

From its earliest days, the brand became known for its sturdy construction, classic French workwear fabrics like moleskin and cotton twill, and practical designs that prioritized comfort and longevity. Over the decades, Vetra remained a family-run business, maintaining production 100% in France and passing its savoir-faire through generations while preserving its traditional manufacturing methods and authentic blue workwear heritage.

In the late 20th century, the label expanded internationally—especially in Japan and the United States—where discerning customers embraced its timeless utility, and today Vetra continues to blend its heritage workwear roots with subtle modern interpretations that appeal to both traditional and contemporary audiences.
