About yuketen

Yuketen is a heritage-driven Japanese footwear and lifestyle brand founded in 1989 by designer Yuki Matsuda, and it sits at the heart of his California-based Meg Company collective. From the beginning, the brand has been inspired by traditional American craftsmanship and outdoor lifestyle, with a particular focus on handcrafted moccasins, boots, and shoes made using time-honored techniques and premium materials like Horween and Italian leathers.

Matsuda’s vision led him to travel across the United States to work directly with skilled artisans, especially in Maine, where much of yuketen’s iconic hand-sewn footwear is produced, while also incorporating global influences and unexpected fabrics into its designs.

Over time, the range has expanded to include accessories and other lifestyle pieces, all united by meticulous construction, thoughtful material selection, and a balance of heritage and forward-thinking design. Yuketen remains celebrated internationally for its unique blend of artisanal tradition, durable quality, and narrative-rich aesthetics.
